The Exchange is going to have to be a little more discerning as to what goes on the shelves. Below is a basic list of what we will, and will not be taking at The Exchange–but this is subject to change at anytime, and all categories are subject to space limitations.

Acceptable:

  • Small household appliances, clean and fully operational
  • Parts and materials in working order
  • Hardcover and paperback in good condition
  • Doors
  • Electrical
  • Fasteners—nuts and screws in packages
  • Flooring tile
  • Hardware
  • Insulation—new and in original packaging only
  • Latex paint and paint supplies–labels intact, no rust, near-new
  • Lighting
  • Lumber—clean, 6 feet or more
  • Mirrors and wall art—framed only
  • Plumbing
  • Roofing
  • Venting
  • Windows
  • Intact—no tears or missing parts, clean, sell-able condition (limited space)
  • Jewelry and accessories
  • Shoes—in clean, sellable, gently used condition
  • CDs, LPs, DVDs
  • Computers and peripherals—5 years old or less, space allowing
  • Cameras and photographic equipment
  • Stereo equipment
  • TVs—flat screens, 5 years old or less
  • Video gaming equipment & software
  • Area rugs
  • Furniture; indoor and outdoor
  • Garden tools and equipment
  • Holiday decorations —may be limited to specific seasons
  • Knick/Knacks
  • Office and school supplies
  • Tools—hand and power in working condition
  • Kitchenware, dishes and glassware
  • Linens
  • Non-hazardous household chemicals
  • Pet supplies
  • Towels
  • Vacuum cleaners–clean and operational
  • Arts and crafts supplies
  • Books
  • Clean toys–with complete parts (limited space)
  • Games and puzzles–with complete parts
  • All major sports
  • Bikes and equipment
  • Camping and outdoor
  • Winter sports

NOT Acceptable:

  • Water heaters
  • Dishwashers
  • Washers & dryers
  • Stoves
  • Batteries
  • Fluids
  • School or Text books
  • Magazines
  • Encyclopedias
  • Outdated computer manuals
  • Materials with suspected lead-based paint or asbestos
  • Blinds
  • Linear building material under 6 ft.
  • Sheet building material under 4 ft x 4 ft.
  • Broken glass windows or mirrors
  • Alarms, CO2 and smoke detectors
  • Paint (we recycle paint. click here for more info)
  • Tube TVs, monitors
  • VHS players or tapes
  • Bed mattresses and bases/box springs
  • Infant furniture that could pose a health risk (cribs, car seats, etc.)
  • Pool tables, Ping-pong tables, Air hockey tables

  • Bike helmets
