The Last Straw

Here’s what you should know if you enter a restaurant in the San Juan Islands and see signage for, “The Last Straw”:

• “The Last Straw” is a nationwide campaign encouraging businesses and customers to stop using single-use plastic straws and utensils
• Businesses who have taken the pledge will provide single-use utensils and straws by request only, and those choices will likely consist of compostable options
• Island businesses who take the pledge are part of a larger collective of community members and businesses who are making choices that will create a big difference for the health of our marine environment

Businesses who pledge will be recognized on the campaign website, on social media, in the press, and will receive free outreach materials to display at their business to help inform customers about the campaign and this important issue. Let us know if you join the campaign!
