Tennis Ball Recycling at The Exchange

Because there just aren’t enough dogs around to handle the excess, ORS/The Exchange will begin accepting used tennis balls at The Exchange this month.

Nationwide, approximately 125 million used tennis balls wind up in America’s landfills every year. That is 20,000 metric tons of methane-producing, near non-decomposable rubber waste.

We have partnered with RecycleBalls.org, who grinds up used tennis balls to make a processed natural crumb rubber material used for various purposes including bedding and track material for horses, making new tennis courts, playgrounds, and other surface applications where a rubber coating is useful.

You can bring in your used tennis balls for recycling at the end of September (collection boxes are on the way). I am sure we will also be happy to donate balls to our doggy friends as well!
