Secure Document Shredding at The Exchange

The Exchange, in partnership with Bellingham-based A1 Shredding, is now offering secure document destruction during regular business hours: Thursday through Monday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fees are based on volume. A standard banker’s box of documents (about 30 pounds) is $15, while a half-box is $8. The minimum charge for the service is $8.

Customers can bring documents directly into The Exchange and feed them into secure, locked storage bins. If you have more material than can reasonably be hand-fed into the bins, please contact us to make an appointment.

Periodically, A1 Shredding will bring its mobile shredding truck to Orcas Island to securely destroy the collected documents. The shredded paper will then be transported to the mainland for recycling, with much of it going directly to regional pulp mills to be made into new paper products.

A1 Shredding is NAID AAA Certified and meets HIPAA, FACTA, GLBA, and FTC Safeguards Rule requirements.
